Experience:

Jodie Woodward has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1985.  She completed the Charles Ross Beauty School in Los Angeles, Wilshire district. After finishing Beauty School, she began styling period pieces for the various Hollywood studios. Having thin hair herself she began to look into hair extensions in the Los Angeles area. What she found was that ready-to-wear hair was low quality hair, synthetic or human hair with the cuticle stripped from it.  She also learned that when buying ready-to-wear hairpieces, that they do not match the color or texture of the original hair.  That is why she searched for the best hair replacement centers in the Los Angeles area to expand her knowledge. 

She landed a job with the Pillerella Hair Replacement Center, for men and women. She started hand making custom hair pieces where she could control the quality of the hair, the texture and the color.  With the training from Pillerallas she was able to refine her skills with hair replacements, extensions and wigs. Shortly after working in the center, Jodie worked on the 1986 Super Bowl half time show styling 142 Ginger Rogers wigs and 99 Shirley Temple wigs (See pictures in the Photo Gallery).

Janell Pilleralla realized the growing need for women’s hair extensions and focused her business in the Hollywood area.  With Janell, Jodie was able to work with many famous people. Kate Jackson, Valerie Bertinelli, Carol Lawrence, Delta Burke, Perri Lister, Cassey Yates, Debbie Q, Elisbeth Ashley, Terry Thinnes, Jackie Stallone, Rainey Davis, Sylvester Stallone, Maxwell Caulfield , Roy Thinnes, Michael Masser, Michael O. Martian and Kathy Tracy.

Jodie moved to New Orleans in 1989 to work with Betty Iverson on some Disney film projects.  She worked with Disney Studios as a hairstylist and stunt double wig maker. Some noteworthy actors include: Alfrie Woodard and Mario Van Peeples. In addition to this opportunity, she worked on "Orleans"  (sitcom TV Pilot) and some other TV sitcoms. Her talent was quickly recognized in New Orleans resulting in her work with La Petite Theater in the French Quarter and the New Orleans Opera House.  Her high demand by the studios and theater district kept her in New Orleans for many years. 

During her years with the studios and theater, she received an increasing number of women needing hair replacement for medical reasons. She then turned her focus towards restoring hair due to medical conditions. 

In 1997, Jodie moved to Boulder with her two children where she continued her business, Custom Hair Extensions. Her expertise includes custom and handmade hair extensions and individual pieces. Jodie does all kinds of bonding, including cold and hot fusion applications.  She continues to do artistic hair pieces for theater and other unique situations, and has specialized in hair restoration due to medical conditions.  Her business in Boulder has brought her many clients with extreme hair loss and she is currently pursuing the most up-to-date methods in applying hair for every situation. Her expertise is coloring her clients hair, then matching the different colors into a hair unit. She has trained two other employees to assist her in her growing business. She still travels out to Los Angeles to work with Janell on various projects.

Technique:

Anchor Point System:

This is Hollywood's best kep hair extensions secret! We proudly introduce this exclusive method that will make you happy to say bye bye to braids forever! It is an excellent (or the best) way to attach rows of hair and top pieces to the root of your hair in a quick and simple procedure.

It eliminates the bumpiness of a braid, allowing the pieces to lay flat on ones head, doesn't track ones hair down and allows ones own hair to be incorporated into the style. This method reduces the stress on the hair because it allows alternation of the spots used to attach the pieces. When using this technique you can wash your hair, style it, sleep in it, and even swim in it! No glue, no braids. This method requires an approximately 6 week maintenance.

Individuals:

Why pay Great Lengths prices? We have a method that provides all the advantages of individual hair extensions at an affordable price. Our keratin based adhesive is gentle on the hair and it allows us to re-use the hair at your maintenance appointment (approximately 10-12 weeks).

Clips:

Clip on rows of hair, pony tails or top pieces. This method requires no maintenance.

Our Products:

We use the finest quality human hair to make pieces that accomodate each individuals hair requirements. Unlike other salons, all of our products can be reused after the initial installation.

Rows of Hair:

For thicker, longer hair. We make them in our salon, giving you the ability to blend colors and manage the width and density.

Individuals:

We make them ourselves for color and density management. Our method is a gentler one than is used at Great Lengths, and the hair is re-usable!

Top Units:

Custom made fit, shape and size are an excellent alternative to wigs (for hair loss). Partial or full size hair pieces provide great coverage for trouble areas. When using our exclusive anchor point system of attachment they stay on for approximately 6 weeks without the use of glue. See Techniques.
